Ambulances are an emergency service provided by Ambulance NSW, which is part of the NSW public health system. They are part of Australia’s government run emergency services. Emergency Services also includes the fire brigade and the police. If you find yourself in an emergency; dial 000, or 112 if you are calling from a mobile phone, and ask for an ambulance.
‘000’ Emergency has access to an interpreter service if the caller is not an English-speaker. Sydney ambulance response times are fast, the paramedics are highly-qualified and the ambulances are well-equipped. The casualty is taken to the nearest hospital for treatment, unless the patient specifically requests a different one.
