Barcelona Shopping Guide
Although Spain is not the bargain-hunters paradise it once was, it makes up for the price increase with a wide array of shopping opportunities and venues. From designer labels to flea markets, Barcelona is a shopper’s joy. The scenery and food stop alone make it a great day out.
When you want to go shopping in Barcelona you have to bear in mind that some shops are not open during lunchtime/siesta. In general, they’re open during weekdays from 10:30 a.m.-2.30 p.m. and from 4:30 p.m-9:00 p.m. On Sundays, most shops don’t open their doors.
The siesta is not observed by larger shopping centers and stores located on major avenues. If you are dedicated and don´t want to take a break during the hottest hours of the day, head for the air-conditioned comfort of one of these major centers.
Otherwise, enjoy the shopping districts that offer major chains and elegant designer gear or head for the markets for off-beat, cheap-and-cheerful, or one-off goods.
