Driving in Bangkok is a necessity for many expats; especially those living on the outskirts of the city. It is common for people to rent a car before buying one so that they are able to get used to the driving conditions and also to ensure that they find the best deal available. However, before hiring or buying a car, it is important to be aware of certain facts and tips as well as knowing the rules of the road.
It’s possible to do without a car at all if you live near the Skytrain or Metro, but for many expats a car is an extra convenience that is hard to live without. Bangkok is a very hot and congested city and it’s nice to remain cool in the comfort of your own car.
