Veterinaries Guide for Expats in Shanghai
Expats usually treat their pets as members of the family. They seek the very best care for their pets when they are ill or need medical attention. Therefore, here is a compilation of veterinaries in Shanghai who have Western training, speak English, but are probably more expensive than local Chinese vets.
It is important that veterinarian care is provided by a properly trained veterinarian with a Western University veterinary science degree. At a minimum, the vet caring for your pet should have a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (BVSc.) or equivalent Western degree. Local Chinese vet training and licensing standards are inadequate. Veterinary technician/assistant training also does not meet Western vet care standards. The vets listed below should treat your pets with Western-standard levels of expertise.
