Where to live in Delhi
While some expats live in Central Delhi localities such as Jor Bagh and Jangpura, most are attracted to South Delhi. Residential areas in far Southwest Delhi (e.g., Vasant Vihar, West End, Shanti Niketan and Anand Niketan) are popular with diplomats due to their proximity to Chanakyapuri, Delhi’s embassy district. In near southwest Delhi, the most popular expat neighborhoods include Hauz Khas, Green Park, and Safdarjung Development Area. Southeast Delhi’s expat neighborhoods include Friends Colony, Greater Kailash, Defence Colony, and Panscheel Park.
If you have a job in Gurgaon or Noida, you may prefer to live closer to your work. In Noida, you’ll want to be as close as possible to Sector-18. The de-facto hub of Noida is one of the easiest points from which to access Delhi. Gurgaon has new accommodation across the town, but Sushant Lok is the most convenient area, and here you will have a wide selection of both stand alone houses and upscale apartment complexes to choose from.
South Delhi also offers good transport connections, and is well-linked by metro. It takes approximately 20 minutes by car or metro to get to Connaught Place and about 45 minutes to reach Gurgaon.
