You’ll need a place to stay while you hunt for your long-term living arrangement, a search which takes most expats at least a couple weeks to a month. Luckily, there is no shortage of hotels or serviced apartments in Mumbai. So whether you are shopping for high-end, luxurious apartments or just basic, economical lodging, you’ll easily find temporary accommodation in Mumbai to suit your needs.

Hotels

For stays of about a month or less, a hotel could be your best bet. Hotels offer comfortable living quarters in convenient locations until you are ready to move in. A suite style room will give you more space, which is key if you have children. Living in a hotel means barely lifting a finger for any chores – cooking, cleaning, laundry, carrying bags, etc. The downside, however, is a lack of privacy. The published rates on websites are sometimes negotiable – try calling ahead to work out a special deal.

Serviced Apartments

For a month or more, consider staying in a furnished serviced apartment. You’ll have more space and privacy, and a kitchen will give you the freedom to prepare your own meals. Some serviced apartments, such as those connected to five star hotels, include cleaning services and access to a pool, gym, spa, and other facilities.
