Shopping Guide Brussels
Brussels offers a lot in the way of shopping. Although not associated with fashion like Milan or New York, Brussels has its fair share of shopping districts and malls. There is a wide selection of goods with most major designer lines and internationally recognized brands found in the city, as well as local designers. Aside from clothing and accessories, specialties in Brussels include antiques, art, and confectionery shops. All over the city, there are myriads of opportunities to nip into quaint stores and find something just a little unusual. Chocolate is national pride in Belgium and there are shops throughout Brussels that provide some of the best chocolate and pralines in the world. There are several shopping districts in the city, though really good shopping can also be found on many avenues in the city as well as in many of the communes. Shopping can be expensive, on the same level as London and Paris, particularly designer names. Walking through the streets in the downtown area, as well as communes like Uccle, and Ixelles can unearth some fantastic shops and prices can vary immensely.
January and July are the best months to shop as stores have big sales where you can find discounts of up to 70%. Most shops are open from 10 am until 6 pm during the week, and are closed on Sundays.
