Beauty Guide in Auckland
Auckland is an upscale, cosmopolitan city with a large professional and executive population — so it boasts a wide range of facilities in every price range to keep locals looking their best. There are bargain haircut shops that offer a cut without a wash or blow-dry for as little as $20, while a cut, colour and blow-dry at a high-end salon can run upwards of $300. There are also skin salons offering facials, waxing and other beauty treatments, as well as Botox and other forms of medical skin repair, plus plenty of nail salons dedicated to manicures and pedicures.
There is no unique or special etiquette involved. Tipping hairdressers and other beauty practitioners is not the norm in New Zealand.
Something to be aware of is that not all salons have English speaking staff. This is especially obvious in Newmarket where there are a large number of Asian hairdressers and beauticians.
