Health risks and vaccinations Guide
You do not need any special vaccinations to enter New Zealand. There are no real health risks in the country, however, it is worth being aware that there are high rates of skin cancer due to the strong sun, and also high rates of asthma with some immigrants developing it for the first time after moving here, or noticing a worsening of their condition. Food and water are safe and clean, there are no disease-bearing insects and the population is largely healthy.
The recommended childhood vaccinations are as follows:
- DTaP: (diphtheria, tetanus, acellular pertussis)
- HepB: (hepatitis B)
- Hib: (Haemophilus influenzae type b)
- HPV (human papillomavirus – girls only)
- IPV: (Inactivated polio vaccine)
- MMR: (measles, mumps, rubella)
- PCV7: (pneumococcal)
- Td: (tetanus, diphtheria – adult)
- BCG (Bacille Calmette-Guerin): (tuberculosis)
