Particularly 4 and 5 star hotels and apartments are much cheaper than the equivalent in the west. Choosing between a hotel or a serviced apartment is often a question of personal preference. If you are only staying for a few days or a week, you probably don’t need the extra facilities of a serviced facility, but if you have arrived in Bangkok with the intention of staying for a longer period of time, then a serviced apartment is probably exactly what you need, until you find more permanent accommodation.

Serviced apartments offer the best of both worlds: You get the service and personal attention from a hotel AND you get the privacy and amenities of an apartment.

Bangkok offers many options for luxury serviced apartments. These apartments are quickly becoming the most attractive choice for short term stays because of their affordable luxury and comfortable living.

A serviced apartment usually refers to an apartment that is cleaned and maintained daily. You will get full room cleaning, fresh linen and towels and much more delivered to you daily. Serviced apartments usually have kitchen amenities and are better furnished than a hotel room. Their purpose is to make day to day life as easy and comfortable as possible for their guests.

A serviced apartment should always offer the following facilities:

• Restaurant (Including delivery and room service)
• Swimming Pool
• Gym
• Convenience Store

A serviced apartment should also offer the following services free of charge:

• Room Cleaning (Including Linen change and fresh towels)
• Water and Utilities (No separate billing)
• Internet Access (Preferably Wifi)
• 24 Hour Security
• Room Service

How much to pay and where to live depends on your needs. A serviced apartment offering the above in a good location will probably cost at least 30,000 Baht monthly. If you don’t need to live in the city center you can find less expensive options.

The serviced apartment market in Bangkok is dominated by three groups: Centre Point, Ascott and President groups, but there are many independent apartments. The larger groups usually have consistent service and facilities, but may lack some personal touch and attention.
