Clothing Stores in Bangkok
Bangkok is a world class city when it comes to fashion. All the big brands in fashion are housed in Bangkok’s upscale shopping malls. You will have no problems finding Gucci, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Armani, Hugo Boss, Christian Dior or any other high fashion label. They are all available with many shops around the city. For those that like to shop for less know brands and local designs there are also tons of opportunities for clothes shopping. Bangkok is a never ending market of clothes, every soi, mall and market has an abundance of clothes in all shapes and sizes. In fact, the many choices may seem overwhelming as first, but once you familiarize yourself with what is available it will be a breeze to find clothes. Tailoring
When it comes to tailor-made clothes and household décor, Bangkok is one of the best cities in the world for choice. There are tailors on virtually every corner of Sukhumvit as well as in other tourist hubs of the city such as Dusit, Khao San Road and Phra Nakorn. There are so many, that you might feel a bit overwhelmed. These are some tips when choosing a tailor:
- The extra cheap deals are never as good as they seem. The tailors offering the cheapest deals usually produce lower quality garments.
- Word of mouth is one of the best ways to find a good tailor. Find out where friends and work colleagues go.
- Ask to see examples of their work and inspect the stitching, lining, quality of material used and general quality.
- Avoid the shops that guarantee to have clothes tailored in 24 hours; again, these will generally be of a lower quality. You will need one measurement appointment at the tailors and at least one fitting and these take time.
There are many tailors in Bangkok and just as many recommendations, but two tailors are widely regarded as the best (or at least most popular). They are both located near Nana Entertainment Plaza, so not exactly in the classiest of neighborhoods, but the pictures of celebrities posing with the owners does lend some credibility to the shops.
