Hospitals

There are no specific “English-speaking” hospitals in Barcelona, but almost all hospitals here have staff who understand and speak English. If you are in an emergency medical situation, call 112, the national emergency number. This is staffed by multilingual operators who will be able to speak English and the fact that you are an English-speaker will be noted when you are collected.

When you arrive at the hospital, you will either be assigned an English-speaking doctor or a translator will be provided to help you. All of the following are public hospitals, which are considered to be the best-equipped with the most resources in the case of an emergency. Barcelona also has several fantastic private hospitals, which are worth using if you have insurance.
