Department Stores in Barcelona
You can easily find department stores and shopping centers in Barcelona. They do not observe the siesta anymore so you can shop all day, which is tempting in summer as they are all air-conditioned. Most of them carry much the same ranges, styles, chains and prices: mid-priced assortment of clothes and accessories for men and women, pet stores, opticians, banks, supermarkets, music stores, food courts and so on. Some will carry designer labels so be prepared to shell out more for these pricier items. If you are looking for basics though, like sandals, tee-shirts and underwear, your best bet is to either head to the market or to larger supermarkets like Carrefours or Caprabo (in L’illa) where you are likely to pick these items up at a reasonable quality for €5 or so.
