Beijing Main Shopping Areas
There are two main shopping areas in Beijing located in the Chaoyang District.
In the Central Business District (CBD), you will find department stores, many large luxury malls, and one main touristy shopping market with hundreds of vendor stalls selling everything from luggage to cashmere sweaters and Great Wall T-shirts. CBD shopping is generally the most expensive, with malls housing luxury brands from overseas. It is not easy to find more modest shopping options in the CBD area.
The other main shopping area in Beijing is in Sanlitun. There are a couple of large, modern shopping complexes (complete with movie theaters and ice-skating rinks) as well as shopping markets in and around that area. Sanlitun shopping provides the most realistic options for those that are not looking for the latest offerings at Prada or Gucci.
