In Hanoi it’s often cheaper and easier to have clothes custom-made than to try to find them ready-made. All the silk shops on Hang Gai street in the Old Quarter will copy dresses or pattern-book pictures, and you can also try the tailors listed below—all of these speak at least limited English and are adept at sign language related to their craft:
