Vietnam is a cash and carry society. Internet commerce and even credit cards are still slow in coming to Hanoi. If you want something that is not available in a shop—a book, computer software, or appliance—the owner will usually order it for you, and tell you when to check back to see if it has arrived.
If you order goods from overseas, it’s best to use a work or business address for delivery–things have a higher percentage of going missing when delivered to residences
