Los Angeles Farmer’s Markets
Los Angeles has numerous farmers’ markets taking place every day of the week. Vendors supply mainly local and often times organic produce, hot food, specialty foods, breads, and plants. Nowhere else in the country will you find fresh local produce all year round. Prices are reasonable and the thrill of buying locally picked and produced California produce is a treat in itself. Many outdoor markets provide live entertainment and children’s activities.
A full list of California markets is available on California Farmers Markets informative website. There are more than 100 certified farmers’ markets in Los Angeles County. http://www.cafarmersmarkets.org/

Located on Fairfax Avenue and 3rd Street is “the Original Farmer’s Market”, which was started by the local farmers who pulled their trucks full of fruits, vegetables and flowers right on this corner one day in July of 1934. Although it is now more of a tourist attraction than an authentic farmer’s market, it still deserves the homage and recognition as the place where it all started. The market consists of more than 100 merchants including semi-outdoor restaurants, bakeries, cafes, bookstores, souvenir shops, barbers and more.
