Open-air Markets in Sydney
There are numerous open-air markets in Sydney, large and small. There are also specialist markets, such as organic and farmers markets. Some, but not all, market vendors will accept a little friendly bargaining as their prices can be flexible, particularly towards the end of the day when they want to get rid of stock.
Paddy’s Markets
Paddy’s Markets is located in Haymarket, Chinatown. You can find cheap, fresh produce, clothes, toys and other items. This includes a wide selection of Asian vegetables and herbs. Most vendors will accept bargaining. Paddy’s is undercover and so it is operational during wet weather.

Flemington Markets
Flemington Markets is also a part of Paddy’s but in a different location. Unlike Paddy’s Markets in Chinatown, Flemington Markets sells almost exclusively produce. As the name suggests, it is located in Flemington, which is in Sydney’s west. Flemington Markets is almost an event. The warehouse is massive, with hundreds of vendors yelling out their prices and produce. Produce is very cheap and it is the place to go to buy in bulk. You can buy small amounts too.

Sydney Fish Markets
An incredible 65 tonnes of fresh fish pass through these markets daily and it is well worth the visit. There are also casual eateries at the market with very fresh fish and seating by the water.

This relatively new market offers some real delights. Gourmet food, delicious stinky cheeses and indigenous spices and foods are just some of the goods you can buy at this market.
