In order to successfully enter Canada, you must first pass through a Canada Customs Entry Station. These are located at every port, airport, and road entering Canada from the United States.
When entering the customs point, you will be asked to produce your passport, and you will be asked a series of questions relating to your stay in Canada. If you are working or studying in Canada, you will be expected to produce the appropriate permit. If you are staying in Canada for longer than 6 months, you will be expected to produce your Temporary Visitor Visa. It is important that you make sure that you have all the passports and paperwork for yourself and any family members that are accompanying you into the country.
Canada Customs may also conduct a criminal records check on you, and anyone accompanying you into Canada. If you are able to do a check on yourself prior to entering the country, you will need to produce evidence that this has been done, and that you have a clean record. If you have a criminal record, you will not be accepted into Canada.
Once you have cleared the immigration point, there is no further registration steps necessary in Canada.
