You may choose to stay in a regular hotel when you first arrive, but after a few days or so you may prefer to move to an apartment hotel (or even short-term rental housing), which typically offers family suites with a kitchenette, dining area, lounge area, and bedrooms all connecting off of the main room. It isn’t difficult to find a suitable apartment hotel in Vancouver, there are quite a few just in the downtown area alone, which is where many stay when they first arrive, not only because it is the heart of Vancouver but also because it is easy to get around by foot without having to rely on the use of a vehicle (which you most likely will not have when you first arrive).
This type of accommodation, while less expensive than a hotel, is still more expensive than rental housing. The advantage is that you have all your needs taken care of, and you don’t have to worry about furnishings and equipment. Average monthly cost for an apartment hotel suite is approximately $3000, as compared to an $8000 monthly hotel bill. A short-term furnished condo would likely run somewhere between $2000 and $4500 per month (luxury condos that you might find downtown; there are far cheaper suites to be had in other parts of the city).
