I’m Brazilian but I use a VPN service to watch US TV in Brazil.

I would prefer using VPNs than proxies especially in China. China government is using DPI technology to block OpenVPN or L2TP connection. So using VPN over SSH tunneling is the only way to got encrypted and can’t be detected. I highly recommend WaselPro http://www.vpnanswers.com/openvpn-over-ssh-tunnelling-tutorial-step-by-step/
