The annual “I am not a tourist” fair will be held in Amsterdam at Beurs van Berlage on Sunday 25th October 2009 from 10am to 5pm. The exhibition is aimed specifically at expatriates who are living and working in the Netherlands and offers people living in the region an opportunity to socialize whilst also being introduced to a wide range of expatriate service providers.
A major focus of this year’s event is to be placed upon encouraging networking and a significant number of the activities offered will be aimed at assisting both new and existing expats to become acquainted with one another, join groups or clubs and mix with people from all over the world. The major aim of the event is to help people to enrich their lives abroad and the organizers of this lifestyle fair believe that even expats who have lived in the Netherlands for a long time will benefit from the opportunity to socialize with other members of the expat community.
A further focus on this year’s event will be placed upon assisting unemployed expatiates who live in the Netherlands to find suitable employment opportunities. Expat job opportunities will be displayed and expert advice will be on hand from some of the Netherlands most reputable recruitment consultants.
There is also a fun element to the fair and planned activities include cultural education, wine and whiskey tasting, chocolate and sushi making and life performances from comedians and dancers. For single expats there will be an opportunity to participate in speed dating. Activities will be complimented by exhibitions of paintings and photographs from both Dutch and international artists.
Around 35 different representatives from various expatriate clubs and forums, universities and other organizations will attend the event. Alongside these there will be representation from over 55 different companies, who will be on hand to offer help and advice on a wide range of issues impacting expats, such as housing, banking and finance, career opportunities and schooling.
