As a centre of trade with a dense population, Amsterdam’s communication infrastructure is advanced, dependable and broad in scope. Several international TV, telephone and internet providers operate in the city and rates are generally competitive.
For the English speaking, TV loving expat this is a dream come true. Dutch TV stations show programs and films with their original soundtracks unlike, say, Germany or France where dubbing is far more common (only shows for kids are dubbed).
Internet is usually very fast and dependable – though setting it up in the first place can prove to be a challenge (More on this under ‘Internet’ below).
Like the rest of the world the Dutch cell phone market is competitive and good bundles or offers are available depending on your needs. However long distance calls are expensive by most providers.
Newspapers and radio for all interests can be found easily and English language magazines and newspapers are stocked by stores all over the city centre.
