Private schools in China know that much of their value comes from the fact that they allow parents to be involved in the education of their children. Teachers will be always available to discuss any issue regarding your kids, so take advantage of it. Having direct meetings may be difficult if you have a tight schedule, but you will always be given the option to keep in contact through phone or email.
Don´t wait until problems arise. Contact with teachers is always encouraged, even if your child is an over-achiever. Teachers are well-trained to detect problems that are just under the surface and that, perhaps, parents are too close to see. Making a move to a foreign country is difficult for anyone, but don’t underestimate the emotions that school-age children will also feel. All teachers in international schools speak English perfectly, so a language barrier will not pose any problems.
Parents are urged to participate in school life in numerous ways. International schools often organize family events such as field trips, outings to the theatre, university orientation journeys and more. Parent-volunteers are solicited for any and all events.
