Most expats come to India with a job offer in hand. If you want to come to India to network or look for a job, the best course of action is to obtain a tourist visa. If you do secure employment, you won’t be able to join your new company until you have been issued an employment visa. Tourist visas cannot be converted into employment visas in India; instead, you will need to return to your country of citizenship or permanent residence to apply for a new visa there. Furthermore, if you return to your home country, you may have to wait two months before re-entering India, at the discretion of the Indian mission in your country.
