Police Non-Emergency 311
In case of non-emergency situations, dial 311 from your phone. The police non-emergency number is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
After dialing 311, you can:
- File a police report immediately over the telephone.
- Make an appointment to file a police report.
- Speak directly to desk personnel at your police district station.
You can call 311 for instance to report a crime after it has occurred.
Police or Fire Emergency 911
In case of emergency situations, dial 911 from your phone. This emergency number is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You will be immediately connected to a trained operator. You can call from a landline or a mobile phone. If you call from a landline, the operator will immediately locate you. If you call from your mobile phone, you have to give very specific information about where you are and what happened. The operator will dispatch the police, fire and medical services you need. The 911 service offers interpretation for more than 140 languages and dialects. The operator will ask you basics questions. Do not hang up the phone until the operator tells you to do so and stay where you are unless it is dangerous for you.
Emergency situations are for instance a car accident, a serious injury, a fire, a crime while it is occurring.
Emergency Medical Services 911
If you experience or witness a life-threatening injury or serious condition (such as a heart attack, broken bones or an unresponsive victim), dial 911 immediately for emergency medical assistance.
