There are many ways to go about finding a babysitter. There are babysitting companies you can use and online databases of independent babysitters. You can also find babysitters on the website Gumtree or in your local newspaper. Another alternative is to advertise for a babysitter which you can do on the databases, the classifieds website Gumtree and/or your local paper. Make sure to vigorously screen any potential babysitters. Asking a colleague or friend for a recommendation is also useful. The average rate for private babysitting is $15 to $20 an hour.
