Department stores and shopping centers in Sydney
There are two major department stores in Sydney, Myer and David Jones. Both are equally renowned for their extensive range of cosmetics, garments, shoes, homewears and all manner of merchandise. David Jones has long been considered for its history of quality and service, while Myer has established itself as a more down to earth shopping experience. Pricing is very competitive between the stores and usually represents good value. Myer has a greater presence in the marketplace, with eighteen stores across Sydney metropolitan and regional areas compared to David Jones’ seven stores.
The flagship stores are located in the city, side by side of Pitt StreetMall.

There are also discount chain department stores in Sydney which are stocked and priced similarly to each other. These are Kmart, Target and Big W. You can find them in most shopping centres.
