The City of Toronto hosts a variety of community wide events throughout the year. Its Winterfest, Winterlicious, and Summerlicious events are highly popular, and give residents a taste for the arts around the city. This is an 18 day fair, held in late August/early September every year at the Canadian National Exhibition grounds along the lakeshore in south central Toronto. The fair features midway rides, a wide variety of food and games, and a number of stages with entertainment scheduled throughout the day.
Royal Winter Fair, http://www.royalfair.org
This event takes place at the exhibition grounds during the first two weeks of November, and features a large number of food booths, activities, and a large variety agricultural shows and displays.
Word on the Street, http://www.wordonthestreet.ca
Usually held on the last Sunday of September, this is one of Canada’s largest literary festivals, and features a huge book sale, food vendors, and guest appearances by Canadian literary figures.

A massive Caribbean cultural fair held in various locations around Toronto during the first long weekend in August.
